CPL 2.0 Twitter

I had never been on Twitter before. There are lots of people tweeting...amazing. I found when I searched for the Gulf Oil crisis many of the tweets basically said the same thing. I can see that Twitter would be interesting for breaking news. I am not sure I could get hooked on this as most of the time I don't even turn on my cell phone.

I think that it is great that the library is using Twitter to let the public know of events at the library.

CPL 2.0 Library Thing

Library Thing was neat to tour. I am not sure I would use it on a regular basis. I am not really a blogger. I did think that it was great that you could review books if you choose to. I could see using this site to look up books of like genre and using it for book club to review books easily. Who knows I may become a fan and a blogger!!
I could see google docs eventually replacing the more expensive Microsoft Office especially if it works the same and is much easier to share information rather than having many email attachments of the same thing.

CPL 2.0

I was very excited to learn about google docs. However when I went into documents to play around with it I found that there was no spell check. I thought this very strange so my co-worker on an other computer went into documents and spell check as well as save etc. came up. Was very strange. So I logged off and tried to go back into it to see if it would be different. It kept redirecting me and finally timed out. Either today is not a good day as they may be having technical difficulites or they still have more work to do. I can see if it is working properly that being able to share info and edit collaboratively would be a huge time saver. I will try at home to see if I have a different result.

Flickr & You Tube are very easy to navigate. I really like the options on Flickr to post your pictures and map where they were taken. I liked going all over the world looking at the pictures posted. I really like the option to create your own photo book and will be looking into that more as I would like to make those books up for my boys and their sports. I think it would make great Christmas presents. It amazes me on You Tube the stupid things post on there. I guess I must be getting old!! I do enjoy the comedy ones. Mrs. Hughes is my favourite video on You Tube. She makes me laugh so hard I have tears running down my cheeks. I think many people have come out of obscurity because of You Tube. Look at Susan Boyle for instance.

cpl 2.0

RSS Feed was surprisingly easy to use. I set up my bloglines page which was very easy to do. The funny thing was when I went looking for RSS feeds on the websites I use the most they didn't have it. I finally went to Library Press Display and set one up there for the Calgary Hearld. Thank you for making this easy. I have always thought I would get around to figuring this out, but had not got around to it.

Wow, who knew there were so many cool things in Google! I use google for many things and I guess I always just stuck to the favourites. I really like Picasa and am going to start to use this for my boys sports photos. I like Google docs as well. I know this is going to be a great help not only for myself, but for my children. I like the fact that you can keep organized and share information when you are doing a project together. Thanks for getting me to further examine all of these great features of Google.
